A total of 24 witnesses across four days helped further shape our key themes and recommendations.
We have just concluded four days of significant hearings, and I want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed information and provided evidence to the Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence.
In the past two weeks, we have heard from 24 witnesses across four key themes – Children and Young People, Intervention Orders, Innovative approaches and Empowerment and recovery.
There was considerable evidence covered, including some wonderful insights from organisations such as the GOGO Foundation, Centre of Critical Indigenous Studies, The Survivor Hub, Rainbow Health Australia, Embolden, SAPOL, Relationships Australia and BetterStart.
These hearings, along with our regional visits and listening sessions, continue to explore some of the themes that are emerging, and will help further refine our recommendations.
Transcripts from the February Public Hearings are now available on our website, and transcripts from the two March days will be uploaded shortly. Video from each day is also housed on our website for anyone who wishes to review our past topics.
Each day, we gather more information about system problems and critical needs within the domestic, family and sexual violence sector.
We have two more Public Hearing days later this month, followed by important regional visits to the APY Lands and Ceduna.
Finally, this week we also hosted the third meeting of our Aboriginal Partnership Committee. I am extremely grateful to the committee members for dedicating their time to assist our work.
